For me:
Consulting - is a responsible business of an industrious mind. That’s 100% success achieved by practice, but the one that causes changes in people, organizational orders, employment relationship, view of the world (that refers to as world-view). An attractive point of such practice is that a consultant is completely involved into changes as a tool of this process. As an actor makes people feel excited by creating emotional and sincere movements on a stage so the consultant changes the organization. Consulting does not allow repetitions: different organizations, different managers don’t let the consultant "fall asleep". They force to invent new and new methods, smart work tools.
The result - is less work. There is so much work in our life and it tries to occupy all available time so that it’s getting so little time to live a full life. Because of the consultant, his advice — it’s becoming «less business to do», and work starts being easier and done faster. When the consultant fails to get good results — it’s becoming more work to do which is sad
.
Dialogue — willingness to participate in casual conversations which really allow both sides to advance and change, overcoming inertia of comfortable existence.
Development - «a new quality » appears as a result of exciting changes of the person or organization: system, attitude, resource or something another. As a rule, development is accompanied by understanding or comes to the end with it: «Here we are! ». The consultant — is like «a manufacturer of new understanding ».
